Tremella mushroom belongs to the jelly fungus family because of the gelatinous fruiting bodies. It has the colour of snow and is called in English language “snow fungus", in Chinese "silver ear mushroom", and in Japanese "white tree jellyfish".

The fruiting body of the mushroom look like a loofah bath sponge, and just as the loofah is great for skincare, so are tremella mushrooms.

Tremella is loaded with vitamin D, which is essential in helping skin cell growth, and both repairing and preventing premature skin aging. It is loaded with antioxidants due to the high amounts of polysaccharides, and is known as an ultimate beauty superfood. 

Snow mushroom is extremely hydrating and some studies have shown that tremella acts very similar to hyaluronic acid by pulling moisture to the skin. The water holding capacity of a tremella mushroom is almost 500 times its weight. This extra moisture from tremella can improve the texture and elasticity of your skin.
